Wheel of Fortune called!!!

And they want me to be a contestant and tape on August 8th! That's 2 weeks and 2 days away!!! I'm totally freaking out. I have so much to do. I really hope Drostan can get the work off so he can come with me. A few close friends have already offered to help with the kids. I can't believe this is really happening... and so soon! I'll let you know when it airs. I'm totally terrified with the fact that it is going to be on TV. I wish I could just play the game and have a tape of it for me but not have to have millions of people watch it. :-S Pray I don't spit or pass out or something. :-D

Wheel of fortune... final audition

It was this morning so I thought I'd come and "journal" it while it was still fresh in my mind.

There were 60 people there and they had us all sit down and then made a seating chart so they could see who was who. They had a screen up and a projector that had an electronic game of Wheel connected to a laptop. They would randomly call our names and we would stand up and pick letters and try to solve the puzzle. After they went through everyone, they started doing it again but only called about 20 names to see some people again. (they didn't call me)

The next step was having us take a 5 minute test of just puzzles like those that would be on the show. I was surprised at how tough it was. I only completed about 1/2 of them. After we turned them in, I talked to a few people around me and they said they only answered maybe that many as well.

So the Wheel people took all of our tests and our "who are you" forms that they had us fill out when we got there and left for about 20 minutes to go over everything and score the tests. When they came back, they cut it from 60 people down to 23... and I was one of those 23! They had us play a game again, only this time, 4 of us would go at a time to the front of the room and pretend to spin a wheel and act as though we were on the show. I solved one of the 2 puzzles my group played! Then they had us introduce ourselves and sit back down.

After they had gone through everyone, he told us that was all they had for us and that if we got a letter in the mail in the next 2-3 weeks, then we would be a contestant on the show and if we didn't get any correspondence, then it just wasn't going to happen. This is going to be a LONG 3 weeks!!!!

Yay, it's done... after only 2 years :-P

We moved into our house 2 years ago in June, and ever since, I've been trying to organize and purge and reorganize and purge some more. We just have so much "stuff" that we haven't really needed and finally, I want to have a place for everything and no more piles/boxes of stuff that "I need to go through". So this past weekend, we finally FINALLY finished cleaning out and organizing the garage and we can fit both cars in!!! We needed more shelving and while we did some of it last year, we needed more and last Saturday, we finally finished it. I'm LOVING it! Oh, and we ended up getting a second fridge for the garage. With 4 growing kids, it was just time. I couldn't keep enough milk/yogurt/everything around to keep them fed. :-)

How could somebody be so mean!?

My dear friend Linsey just moved to Utah from Arizona. Her husband was changing jobs and she ended up doing the move without him since he was already there. The plane ride from Arizona to Utah, alone with 5 kids was her biggest concern and even though it is a pretty short flight, I am SHOCKED at what she had to go through. He posted in on her blog here. I really can't say what I would have done in the same situation but if I would have been there with her, I would have gotten pretty steamed. I'm glad it is over for them and they can start their new life in Utah.

So, what would you have done?

These truly are the "last days"

It makes me nervous the state that our world is in. It just seems to keep getting worse and I fear for what my children will have to deal with! A friend just showed me this article and it just made me cringe and want to cry and wisk my family off to some safe place away from the world. It is scary to think about how much worse the world is still going to get.

On a similar topic, we've been really feeling the push lately to get our food storage in order. I desperately need to update our 72 hour kits. We have NO water stored. That is BAD! I'm trying to research different storage options since we don't have a lot of room here. I'm going to go through and catalog what we have in dry pack and see what we need to still get. I don't have any powdered milk yet and very little salt. All the wheat in the world won't do you any good if you can't mix it with anything to make something. :-) I do have quite bit of flour, sugar, and wheat. Still need a grinder though.

I'd love to hear what you have been doing to be more prepared for these last days. You just don't know what is going to happen next anymore.

Megan's new do

I have done a lot of complaining about Megan lately (the little stinker) :-) so I thought I'd post something fun about her. Tonight, we decided to give her her first real hair cut. She's had 2 or 3 tiny little trims before but not a real cut and since we were doing summer cuts for the boys, she wanted one too.
So here she is before...

When I blew it dry, she looked in the mirror and said, "I don't like it, put it back." But after a couple of minutes and some styling, she was more excited about it and now loves it! I've never done any sort of layers before so I may need someone to clean it up a bit for me but it's a pretty good job if I do say so myself. :-)

Re-landscaping project is done!

Well, mostly. Of course there are a few things we still want to do but the vast majority of it is OVER!!! We did pretty much all of it (except for the curbing) ourselves to save $$$. It was a huge job but now that it's done, I'm so happy with it.
This is us moving the tree in front along with some help from some lovely neighbors. I'm in the hat, trying to add resistance while they dig out the roots.

This one is funny because you can see Dallin pushing on my butt trying to help out. :-)

And here he is pulling on me, trying to help me pull on the tree. You can also see where the edge is where the old flower beds were and where we pulled up the sod to create the new berms and flower beds that are connecting.

And here it is finally in it's new home. Miraculously, it's done quite well, even with all we put it through. :-)

Wheel update

I know, I'm a total loser that I'm so excited about this but I am! :-)
I got an email on Friday night asking me to come in for call backs for The Wheel of Fortune! I go in just over 2 weeks and do an "intensive group audition" that could last anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on how well I do. This is the last step before becoming a contestant!

Megan strikes again

Poor Jaron was the victim this time. Luckily, he doesn't seem to care too much. He thinks she is the most fun person in the world (thank goodness!)
