My goodness! Time for some updates!

It has been WAY too long since I have updated our blog. Sorry everyone. Life has been really nuts around here. We were able to get the home we wanted in the new city but because of the stinky market here, we couldn't sell our home. We lowered the price a bit below where we were comfortable and then the house 4 doors down from us, that is the same floor plan sold for $20K less. That's when we knew we were going to have to rent it out and wait for the market to rebound in a few years. We were lucky enough to find a family in our ward who wanted it. It will work out great and we are very glad we will know the people who are here and trust them to take care of it.

Our renters need to be in the beginning of May so the kids and I will be moving over to the new house while Drostan stays here and lives with some of my relatives since he has to work into July. The kids have track break (year round school) for 3 weeks in May so it works out well. We'll set up the house during that time and then come back over here and join Drostan in their basement for most of June so they can finish school and we don't have to be separated all summer long! We are very excited for this new chapter of our lives to start. Hopefully, it's a more permanent one!

Spring camping fun!

Who says it's too early to start camping in April? Not my boys! Dallin was playing with his friend from across the street and they had the idea that it would be so fun to camp in the empty lots behind out house. We decided to compromise a bit and we set up the tent in the grass common area adjacent to our house. (sorry, I should have thought to bring out the camera while it was still light)

Then we dug a little fire pit in our not-yet-planted garden area. :-)

We put the younger two kids to bed and the neighbor boys and their dad came over and the guys got all of the sleeping stuff ready. Us mom's joined in for a bit around the fire and for some Smores but we lucked out and got to sleep in our nice warm beds while are awesome husbands slept outside with the boys "just 30 feet from our beds" as Drostan put it. :-) Everyone ended up having a really great time and we've decided we will definitely be having a fire pit at our new house!
Oh, and the boys got a hold of the camera for a bit this morning and had some fun.


Needless to say, everyone is a bit tired today after staying up way past bedtime for all the fun last night. Thank goodness for quite Sunday afternoons when we can nap and relax a bit.

Easter

I found a really fun idea for dying eggs on this blog. They didn't turn out quite as cute as hers were but we sure had fun making them. When I went to D.I. to find the silk ties, the guy at the checkout said, "please tell me you are not going to rip these ties open to dye eggs with them." I said, "of course I am!" :-)

So, here we are during the process. Everyone was helping.

Here they are after the ties had all been tied onto them, before we wrapped them in muslin and cooked them.

Totally 80's dude!

Our ward had an 80's dance a few weeks ago and we had so much fun! I went around to a couple of thrift stores and found this awesome white leather jacket for Drostan. It was a bit scary how easily I remembered how to get my bangs that high! :-)


They did a fantastic job with the decorations and music and 80's trivia games. We had a few dance lessons and just totally let loose. It's fun to see your friends go a little crazy sometimes. Here are a few more couples that were there.



And yes, I busted a few moves myself and had to break out a little Shania Twain on the karaoke.

Our little girl is a big 4 year old!

Megan turned 4 on April 5th! She still keeps us on our toes but has been such a joy in our family.

With 3 brothers, she always wants to be the "boy" or the "dog" when playing make believe. Her friends love it because they get to be the princess so there are no fights. It's funny because I was such a girlie little girl. I don't know quite what to do with her. Luckily, she still likes to wear dresses for church and loves for me to do her hair. She'll sit there for however long it takes when I curl it or do some fun braids.

For her birthday, she said she wanted a "blue carrot cake". Drostan's mom wanted to make the cake for her so she took on the challenge and Megan was very pleased with the results.

Her brothers were so cute and wanted to both put on some of their money to get her a "Fox and Hound 2" DVD. She was very excited and I'm glad I captured a bit of her excitement. We also got her Pinocchio and she was thrilled about that one too.


We also got her a cute "princess" scooter (trying to steer her toward something girlie) :-P but I can't seem to find a picture of her on it. I'll have to add that one later.

My little (musical) helper

About a month ago, I was cleaning the bathrooms and Megan said she wanted to help. So I told her she could use some of the Clorox wipes and clean the floor in my bathroom. This is how I found her. I thought it was so adorable, I just had to catch some of her song. It was different every time she started but she sure knew what she wanted to say. :-)
